Bloggery

Lately I’ve been going through some of my older tweets. You know, the sort of thing everybody does but doesn’t admit to: going through stuff, seeing what embarrasses you and erasing every trace that said thing ever existed. I, at one time, had over 1,000 tweets. I’m down to about 500 and I’m not even finished. If I were to sum up in one tweet what the majority of my updates from 2009 were like it would sound something like this:

“I wake up every morning with a sad heart that says “Peter Furler, come back!”” :P

Okay, maybe I wasn’t THAT bad, but regardless, thank you for everybody who followed me even as I was a fangirl who moped her way through a band breakup. I now see how annoying I was. Now, as for what else has changed recently:

I don’t go through music nearly as much as I used to. In fact, just last week I got my first new song since Christmas time. And it was “In a Big Country” by *drumroll* Big Country. Normally if I’m going to listen to 80s music it's Skid Row or Aerosmith or something, but Big Country is so fun and happy... and Scottish. You should listen to that song if you haven’t already. And don’t worry, it’s not a country song.

I can legally drive now without a 21 or older passenger and past 11:00 p.m. Words cannot describe how relieved I finally was to not fail the test... er... I mean, to finally get my license. Now everybody who’s been asking me when I’m going to get my license these past four years can stop. You hear that? JUST STOP!

Oh, and I’m officially a baptized member of our church now. What does that mean? Nothing really. I’ve been going to that church for the past 2 years and they let you do just about anything without belonging to the church, but it’s exciting regardless.

I get my Associate’s degree in May. The first few semesters of college I was toying with the idea of eventually going on for a bigger degree. Hang it all, why not get a Doctor’s? Why not become a rocket scientist?! Well. Let me just say that while I love learning and my classes (even though some of them were rather BORING and USELESS) I really hate professors who are paid to teach you and yet they don’t answer you or call you back or get angry with you over simple phone conversations when they give you a 5 out of 30 when you’re only doing what they told you to do IN THE FIRST PLACE!! *ahem*

So I don’t see another degree for me anytime in the near future. And I see much rejoicing and burning of books as soon as this semester is done. And much job searching. Much searching of jobs. Hey, does anyone reading this need a medical unit clerk?

And some of you may remember Soul Skittles from back when my friends actually blogged. Well, she hasn’t dropped off the face of the earth. Actually, for once she’s in a place that I can pronounce; though too far away (for the time being) to visit me again. And I've been missing her on chat lately, but we keep in touch for the most part. And I have some newer friends too. One is named Brittany (as most awesome people are named. :P) who likes the same kind of movies that I do and she and I get together sometimes. And a really nice couple I know who are full of awesome live just a few blocks away from where we're renting. Now when I'm sitting on the porch waiting for Muffinhead to get off the bus they'll drive down through and lay on the horn when the see me.

I've stayed at my grandparents some lately. That's completely reinstated a love of Fiber One and Sanford and Son in me. Okay, maybe not the Fiber One so much, but it's still fun staying with them. And I've been spending a lot of time at the cafeteria where my sister goes to school working for a friend who is a lunch lady. It's only like once a week, but it's fun too. And hey, free food.

And I’ve finally see Star Wars the whole way through and without interruption. Best quote ever?

“NOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooNooooooooooo!!!!11!!!!!!!!1!”

Now I’m rambling. So that’s all!

Big Country - "The Seer" is one of my all-time favorites. Anything with violin, bagpipes or flute trips my trigger. Sad, I know :-) If you like semi-traditional Irish, you might want to find some Karan Casey on youtube and give it a listen.
